I realise I don't like phone interviews

I had my first phone interview for a job today. I thought a phone interview would be better because you won't see the other people and possibly read things differently by reading their facial expressions wrong, it's easy to do during a lunch break without anyone noticing and worrying about having the perfect clothes.

But in reality I think I find it harder to do an interview amongst two other people without seeing them. It felt a bit awkward as it's hard for me (and them) not to cut in and talk to early. My biggest mistake was using a mobile phone though. It's incredibly hard to take note of a technical question when it cuts out, they (I assume) shift in their chair away from the speaker phone and get quiet. While I may think too much into it it feels like I'm coming off a bit thick by having to ask to have question repeated.

Still, after it is all said and done I believe I didn't do too badly ignoring the added nervousness and paranoia about the situation. I hope that is the last time I have ever have to do a phone interview especially for a company just down the road from me.

Personally I think interviews should be done in a more neutral area like a pub, cafe or possibly a library. I suspect, given the opportunity to be able to do that then that is how I would do it if I were interviewing people with the freedom to do it how I want. But maybe that is me just looking for a reason to step out of the office.
